Scheduling Criteria

  1. CPU utilisation – keep the CPU as busy as possible
  1. Throughput – number of processes that complete their execution per time unit
  1. Turnaround time – amount of time to execute a particular process
  1. Waiting time – amount of time a process has been waiting in the ready queue
  1. Response time – amount of time it takes from when a request was submitted until the first response is produced.

What you want to get best speeds

CPU utilisation - higher is better

Throughput - higher is better

Turnaround time - lower is better

Waiting time - lower is better

Response time - lower is better
